An under construction bridge collapsed in Bihar’s Supaul district claiming one life and 9 injured.

Supaul (Bihar): A section of an under construction bridge collapsed in Bihar Supaul district claiming one life and more than 9 persons injured on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 7.30 am. Kaushal Kumar, the district magistrate of Supaul confirms the incident. He said that the injured persons were admitted to Sadar hospital of the district for treatment and rescue operations are currently underway at the place. The officer claimed some more labourers may be  trapped inside the debris.

Sources have said that around 40 labourers were present at the construction site when a section of the bridge collapsed around 7. 30 am on Friday. The death toll is expected to rise in this mishap.

The 10.2 km long bridge, which is being built over the Kosi river to connect Madhubani and Supaul districts. It is a project of National Highway Authority of India. It has given the charge for construction to two companies Gammon India and TransRail Lighting Ltd.
