Patna, October 20, 2025: On the final day of withdrawal of nominations for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, a total of 61 candidates withdrew their papers till Monday, according to the data released by the Election Commission of India.
As per the data, a total of 1690 candidates had filed nominations for the first phase.
316 candidates rejected in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election:
During the scrutiny of nomination papers, 316 were rejected due to discrepancies, leaving 1375 valid nominations.
Following the withdrawal process, 1314 candidates remain in the fray for the first phase of polling.

The nomination process for the 121 constituencies across 18 districts began on October 10 and concluded on October 17.
A maximum of 9 candidates withdrew their names from Patna in the Assembly election:
District-wise, the highest number of withdrawals came from Patna (9 candidates), followed by Darbhanga (8), Begusarai (7), and Gopalganj (6).
Additionally, 5 candidates withdrew from Vaishali, 4 candidates withdrew from Muzaffarpur, 3 each from Siwan, Samastipur, Nalanda and Buxar, 2 each from Madhepura, Khagaria and Munger and 1 each from Saharsa, Saran, Sheikhpura and Bhojpur districts in this assembly election.

Polling for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly election will be held on November 6.
Meanwhile, the nomination process for the second phase of the Bihar Assembly election, covering 122 constituencies across 18 districts, also concluded on Monday at 5 PM.
Candidates will be able to withdraw their names until October 23, with polling scheduled for November 11 and results to be declared on November 14.
The main contest in Bihar will be between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan). The NDA has already finalized its seat-sharing arrangements, with the JDU and BJP contesting 101 seats each, LJPRV on 29, HAM and RLM on six seats each.
On the opposition front, the RJD released its first list of 143 candidates on Monday, while the Congress has so far declared 59 candidates across three lists. The Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) has announced 15 candidates.
