Patna, October 17, 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the latter’s official residence in Patna on Friday.

The meeting lasted around 15 minutes, focused on election strategy and the nomination process of NDA candidates ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.

Following the meeting, JDU national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, who was also present, said that the discussions were positive and that everything is smooth within the NDA.

Sanjay Jha said Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar discussed the campaign strategy:

The two leaders discussed various issues, including the election campaign. We have already announced the seat-sharing arrangement and the list of candidates. Amit Shah will begin his campaign from Saran today, while CM Nitish Kumar is leaving for Jagdishpur for his campaign,” Jha stated.

During the meeting, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Vinod Tawde were present.

Jha also took a swipe at the Grand Alliance, alleging confusion over internal discord over their seat-sharing formula.

“There is no clarity in the Grand Alliance about how many seats each party is contesting. They have even withdrawn symbols from some candidates after allocation. This shows they are not concerned about the people of Bihar but are busy fighting among themselves,” he added.

Sanjay Jha clarified Amit Shah’s statement on CM candidate:

Responding to media reports about Amit Shah’s recent comments on the NDA’s chief ministerial candidate, Jha clarified that Amit Shah’s remarks were misinterpreted.

“Amit Shah clearly said that Nitish Kumar is the NDA’s leader in this election. He is the face of the NDA in Bihar, and we are contesting the Assembly elections under his leadership,” Jha affirmed.

In NDA, BJP and JDU are contesting on 101 seats each as per the seat-sharing adjustment, while Chirag Paswan-led LJPRV on 29 seats, Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustani Awam Morcha on 6 seats and Upendra Kushwaha-led RLM on 6 seats in this election.
