Patna, May 26, 2025: After Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from both the party and the family for six years, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha said that such a decision must have been deeply painful for Lalu Yadav.
The decision followed a social media controversy and has led to widespread public and political reactions.
In a measured and sympathetic response, Sinha emphasized that family matters should remain separate from politics.
“It is inappropriate to politicize a father-son issue. Lalu Yadav is unwell, and making such a tough call must have hurt him deeply. Every father wants to guide his child onto the right path. There’s no place for politics in such a personal matter,” Sinha said.
Vijay Sinha returned to Patna after PM Modi’s meeting with NDA chief ministers:
Vijay Sinha made the comments upon returning from New Delhi, where he attended a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states.
Sinha said the meeting focused on development, governance, and improving law and order across the country, inspired by the PM’s leadership.
The controversy that triggered the expulsion:
The controversy began when a post from Tej Pratap Yadav’s official social media handle claimed he had been in a 12-year relationship with Anushka Yadav.
The post was deleted, reposted and deleted again, causing a media storm. Tej Pratap later claimed that his account had been hacked.
However, the damage was done. As the controversy escalated and the family’s image came under scrutiny, Lalu Prasad Yadav took a firm decision to expel his son from both the party and family.
