
Ranchi, July 30, 2024: Two passengers died and more than 20 persons were injured after the Howrah-Mumbai Mail (12810) collided with a goods train at Barabambo railway station under the Chakradharpur division in Jharkhand on Tuesday morning.
The injured persons were rescued from the spot and taken to the nearby hospitals for treatment.
During the mishap, around 10 coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai mail derailed. The railway officials learnt about the train accident around 4.30 am on Tuesday.
Two passengers were travelling in the toilet:
Prabhat Kumar, the DDC of Chakradhar railway division, said that the two passengers who died in the accident were travelling in the toilet.
“We have rescued all passengers from the train. The dead bodies of the two passengers were not recovered yet, as the two coaches were mangled with each other following the impact of the accident. The railway officials are using gas cutters to bring out the dead bodies. The identification of the deceased is not ascertained yet,” Prabhat Kumar said.

Following the incident, the railway officials have arranged buses to rescue the passengers and sent them to Chakradharpur railway station.

Apart from that, relatives of many passengers reached the spot by their personal vehicles for the rescue as well.
The railway operation on this route is completely disrupted.
