Patna, July 29, 2024: Narrow escape for the passengers of the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express when the train’s coupling broke down in Samastipur district on Monday.
Raushan Kumar, the Senior DCM of Sonpur division, confirmed the incident. The incident occurred at the Repura railway crossing located between Karpoori Gram and Pusa railway station under the Sonpur division of East Central Railway around 9.30 am. Fortunately, no one was injured. It was a narrow escape for the passengers.
Eyewitnesses have said that the coupling broke down in the middle of the train and engine, along with more than 10 bogies, to travel a few kilometres away from the rest of the train.
The guard of the train immediately contacted the driver to stop the train. He has also informed the senior officials of the nearest Samastipur railway station and the DRM office at Sonpur.
Senior officials, along with technical teams, quickly reached the spot. They brought the engine and the bogies, re-joined with the rest of the train.
The train finally departed for New Delhi after an hour of halt at that place. The Bihar Sampark Kranti Express operates between Darbhanga to New Delhi. All passengers are safe.

An inquiry was initiated after the incident. According to an official, every train is allowed to travel on the route only after proper technical inspections.
This incident has indicated that negligence might have occurred in this case.
