New Delhi, June 8, 2024: Ahead of the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash in the ICC T20 World Cup on Sunday, ticket prices on the resale market have surged to staggering levels, with one listing on StubHub touching $175,400. StubHub legally allows reselling of entertainment and sports tickets with significant markups. However, the astronomical price does not necessarily reflect the ticket’s actual market value—only the amount the seller hopes to get.

The tickets for some sections of the Indo-Pak match are low:

Adding to the intrigue, tickets in the same section were available for dramatically lower prices. In Section 252, seats in Row 21 were listed at $693, and those in Row 19 at $801.

A similar listing—without specifying seat or row details but priced at the same $175,400—appeared on another resale site, Viagogo, suggesting it may be posted by the same seller.

The World Cup cricket is being hosted in USA and West Indies:

The month-long World Cup being hosted across the USA and the Caribbean has proven to be lucrative for resale traders, who are capitalizing on the unprecedented demand for marquee fixtures.

As of Friday night, a limited number of tickets were still available on the official ICC website at face value. Prices ranged from $10,000 in the Diamond Club to $1,500 in the boundary club, with several mid-tier options in between, Premium Club Lounge–$2.750, Corner Clubs–$2.760, Cabanas–$3,000.

The vast difference in demand becomes evident when compared with Saturday’s Netherlands—South Africa match at the same venue, where official ICC prices ranged from $120 for Premium seats to $700 for Premium Club sections.

Tickets for the upcoming India-USA match on Wednesday have also commanded high prices, with listings at $300 for Premium, $1,000 for Premium Club Lounge, $1,350 for Cabanas, $ 7,500 for Diamond Club.
