Patna, March 17, 2026: In a bid to ensure smooth connectivity, the Road Construction Department of Bihar has accelerated infrastructure work in the districts of Gopalganj and Sheikhpura.
In Gopalganj, the department is constructing a 12.60 km-long bypass road to improve connectivity with the National Highway 27.
The bypass is being developed between Bhojpurva village and Thurkaha village.
Once complete, it will enable commuters to directly access NH-27, facilitating easier travel towards Delhi and Siliguri.
The road construction department is constructing a road to connect the Kateya industrial area:
Additionally, the road construction department has approved the construction of a two-lane road connecting the Kateya Industrial Area with the Vijayipur—Deoria road.
This 5.75 Km stretch, being developed at a cost of Rs 90.34 crore, is expected to significantly boost industrial activity in the region.
The improved connectivity will particularly benefit truck operators by ensuring smoother transportation of goods.
Gopalganj, located along the Bihar—Uttar Pradesh border, is strategically positioned as NH-27 passes through it.
The state government aims to leverage this advantage to promote industrial growth by ensuring efficient logistics and connectivity for the movement of goods to other states.

Bihar’s Gopalganj district is primarily supported by agriculture and agro-based industries, with key industrial areas located in Gopalganj, SasaMusha, Sidhwala, and Hathua.
While Ketya is a block within the district, major identified industrial activity centers around sugar production and agricultural processing rather than a singular, major Kateya Industrial Area.
The district is one of the major producers of sugarcane in Bihar. The main regional markets of the district are Gopalganj and Mirganj.
Meanwhile, in Sheikhpura district, the Road Construction Department has expedited the widening of an existing bypass road between Jakhraj Sthan and Husainabad.
An amount of Rs 4.38 crore has been allocated for this project.
Jakhraj Sthan and Husainabad in Sheikhpura district are primarily known for the revered Jakhraj Baba temple, located in the Husainabad area, which serves as a major local religious site.
Additionally, this area is historic for its former Princely State, including the prominent Shia family of the Nawab of Husainabad, and is the birthplace of the famous Bollywood actress Kumkum.
Sheikhpura is considered one of the remote districts of Bihar.
The road construction department is implementing the vision of Nitish Kumar:
According to officials, these initiatives align with the vision of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whose focus on infrastructure development has transformed road connectivity across Bihar.

Improved and seamless road networks have reached even remote areas, making travel more convenient and accelerating the pace of development in the state.
