Patna, April 30, 2024: Vikassheel Insaan Party chief Mukesh Sahani accused the Narendra Modi-led central government of plotting to abolish caste-based reservation in India.
His remarks came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during the rally in Jhanjharpur, urged voters in Bihar to reject-caste-based politics and vote on the basis of merit.
Mukesh Sahani says, unlike Narendra Modi government, ‘caste is our identity’:
Mukesh Sahani stated, “People live within castes and marry within castes. If you want to talk about merit, come and debate openly.”
He alleged that the BJP and its ideological parent RSS, are laying the groundwork to cancel reservations, citing past statements by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
Mukesh Sahani claimed the Constitution gave the rights of reservation:
“Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar gave reservations to bring the backward classes into the mainstream. Amit Shah blames Congress for delaying the Mandal Commission, but the BJP has ruled at the Centre for 10 years—why hasn’t it acted? Was PM Narendra Modi just clapping?” Sahani asked.
Sahani’s comments reflect rising political tensions in Bihar ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where caste-based reservation remains a crucial electoral issue.
