Patna, August 16, 2025: Ahead of the launch of the opposition’s Vote Adhikari Yatra, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday declared that the march will be “historic” and that the Grand Alliance is set to form the next government in Bihar.
Addressing reporters in Patna, Yadav said, “The people of Bihar will give a clear mandate to the Grand Alliance. Our government is going to be formed in Bihar. People of all castes and religions—Youth, women, elderly—are supporting us. The leaders fighting against us are scared, and hence they are making baseless remarks in public.”
Tejashwi Yadav said voters’ rights should be protected:
Tejashwi Yadav announced that the Yatra will begin on Sunday from Sasaram, with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi joining him and other INDIA bloc leaders.
“The main objective of this Yatra is to ensure that no voter is left out of the list. We have already secured relief from the Supreme Court, and now the Election Commission must release the names of those deleted during the Special Intensive Revision.
The voter is the master in a democracy and their rights should be protected,” he said.
The RJD leader also emphasized that the Yatra will focus on real issues such as unemployment, migration, price rise, crime, and local problems, while presenting the opposition’s vision for Bihar.
“This will be a historic Yatra supported by the 14 crore people of the state. They will not just support us, but walk with us,” Yadav added.
Tejashwi Yadav claims the BJP goes for a picnic, not him:
Dismissing the BJP’s claim that Rahul Gandhi and opposition leaders were treating the Yatra as a “picnic,” Yadav hit back: “I have never gone anywhere in Bihar for a picnic—BJP leaders do that. Even Prime Minister Modi goes around the country for picnic-style rallies.
They close schools for their programs. In our yatras, people come willingly, while the BJP struggles to gather crowds even by spending money.”
On Prime Minister Modi’s recent remark that “water and blood cannot flow together,” Yadav retorted, “When he had the opportunity to act on PoK, he agreed to a ceasefire under Donald Trump’s pressure. The BJP only delivers dialogues, not action.”
Responding to Home Minister Amit Shah’s concerns about intruders, Yadav questioned the BJP’s record.
‘For the last 11 years, what have they done? The BSF is under their control, yet they blame others. They raised the same issue in Jharkhand and lost miserably, and they will lose here as well.”
The Vote Adhikar Yatra will travel through 23 districts of Bihar with short breaks, aiming to highlight alleged voter list irregularities and mobilize public support ahead of the upcoming assembly polls.
