Patna October 7, 2024: Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar’s Leader of the Opposition’s officials are facing allegations of replacing new Air Conditioners (ACs) and other equipment with old ones while vacating his former official residence 5 Desh Ratna Marg.
The allegation was levelled by the office employees of Samrat Choudhary, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
The bungalow was previously allocated to him when he was the Deputy Chief Minister during the Grand Alliance government.
After Tejashwi Yadav shifted to his new official residence at 1 Polo Road, which is designated for the Leader of the Opposition, the bungalow at 5 Desh Ratna Marg was reassigned to the current Deputy Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary.
Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister of Textile in the Narendra Modi government condemned the alleged act, labelling it as a “Petty Act” particularly for someone who aspires to be the Chief Minister of Bihar.
“The state government should initiate a thorough investigation about the expenses incurred on Tejashwi Yadav’s former ministerial bungalow and identify any further irregularities,” Singh said.
Neeraj Kumar, a JD(U) MLC and spokesperson expressed concern over the delay in vacating the bungalow and criticized the alleged replacement of ACs as a declining political standards of leaders like Tejashwi Yadav.
“These are government properties funded by taxpayer’s money. I want to appeal to Samrat Choudhary to take serious notice of the matter, urging a detailed investigation into these claims,” Kumar said.
This issue has added fuel to the already tense political atmosphere in Bihar, with opposition leaders facing increased scrutiny.
Tejashwi Yadav has been a prominent figure in Bihar politics, and the allegations have been used by rival leaders like Giriraj Singh and Neeraj Kumar to challenge his leadership integrity and political aspirations. The situation has led to calls for a detailed investigation to ensure proper use of the public resources.
