Patna, October 14, 2025: With the Bihar Assembly election 2025 fast approaching, Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader, will file his nomination papers on October 15, party leaders have officially confirmed.

Tejashwi Yadav will once again contest from the Raghopur Assembly constituency in Vaishali district, a seat considered his political stronghold.

This will mark his third consecutive contest from Raghopur.

Tejashwi Yadav first entered the Bihar Assembly in 2015, winning from Raghopur. The election paved the way for the formation of the Grand Alliance government.

He subsequently served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

In 2020, he retained the seat, consolidating his influence in the region.

According to party sources, after filing the nomination, Tejashwi Yadav is scheduled to address a massive rally in Raghopur.

Rally is expected to be attended by several senior Grand Alliance leaders, and will serve as a show of strength for the RJD as the campaign enters its crucial phase.

Tejashwi Yadav is likely to finalize the seat-sharing formula with the Congress:

While the seat-sharing formula within the Grand Alliance has been finalized, the official announcement is expected on Tuesday (October 15).

A key meeting between Tejashwi Yadav and Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal was held in Delhi on Monday, where senior leaders from both sides discussed seat distribution and election strategy in detail.

Sources indicate that the RJD will contest the largest share of seats, while the Congress is likely to field candidates on around 60 constituencies, and the Left parties are expected to contest on 32 seats. RJD is likely to contest on 135 seats in Bihar.

A board consensus has been achieved, with only the formal declaration remaining.

RJD finalized the first list of candidates:

Meanwhile, the RJD has finalized its first list of candidates, with party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav personally overseeing the selection process after returning to Patna from Delhi.

On Monday, Lalu Prasad Yadav handed over party symbols to three candidates. Narendra Singh alias Bogo Singh, who recently joined the RJD after quitting the JDU, will contest from Mathihani.

Lalan Yadav, the sitting MLA, has been renominated from Sahebpur Kamal, and Deepu Singh, son of incumbent MLA Kiran Devi, has been fielded from Sandesh.

According to the party’s insiders, the first list, comprising around 50 seats, is expected to be released within two days.

This election is widely being viewed as a direct contest between Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav.

While the Grand Alliance is campaigning under the slogan of Badlaav Ka Samay (Time for Change), the NDA has centred its outreach around development and stability.
