Patna, October 22, 2025: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday made a major promise, announcing that all contractual employees and Jivika Didis in Bihar will be given permanent government jobs if the Grand Alliance forms the government after November 14.

Addressing a press conference at his official residence in Patna, the RJD leader accused the Nitish Kumar-led double-engine government of large-scale corruption and exploitation in departments that rely on outsourcing.

“Various departments make contracts with outsourcing companies for huge amounts, but these companies pay barely half of the sanctioned salaries to contractual workers. The remaining commission goes to the decision-makers, ministers and senior officials,” Tejashwi Yadav alleged.

Tejashwi Yadav promised job security:

“Those workers live under constant job insecurity, as they can be removed at any time without notice.”

He announced that under a Grand Alliance government, all contractual workers will be made permanent state government employees, ensuring job security and protection from arbitrary dismissals.

Tejashwi Yadav also reminded that during the 17-month Grand Alliance government, his administration had made contractual teachers permanent, despite criticism from the BJP.

At that time, Sushil Kumar Modi said it wasn’t possible. But we proved it can be done. Similarly, we will use agencies like BELTRON to regularize contractual employees once our government is formed,” he said.

Permanent status for Jivika Didis:

In a significant announcement, Tejashwi Yadav declared that all Jivika Didis—women associated with the self-help-groups—will be given permanent status, with a monthly salary of Rs 30,000 and an additional Rs 2,000 for other expenses.

He further promised a loan interest waiver for all Jivika Didis and said they will have to repay only the principal amount. Apart from that, an interest-free loan for two years and insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh for every Jivika Didis.

Tejashwi Yadav also unveiled two new welfare initiatives to be implemented under the Grand Alliance government—the MAA and BETI schemes.

Explaining the concept, he said, MAA stands for Makan (Housing), Anna (Food) and Amdani (Income). BETI stands for Benefit, Education, Training and Income.

Reiterating his flagship poll promise, Tejashwi Yadav said his government would provide one government job per household after coming to power.
