Patna, December 11, 2025: Tej Pratap Yadav, the national president of the Janshakti Janata Dal, will launch his party’s state-wide membership campaign in Bihar on Friday, December 12.

Tej Pratap, who contested the recent Bihar Assembly elections from the Mahua constituency on his party’s symbol but faced defeat, had fielded several candidates, but none of whom managed to win.

Now, with a fresh organizational push, he is preparing to reassert his political presence.

Tej Pratap will begin the membership drive from his official residence in Patna:

The party’s mega membership drive will begin at 1 PM from his official residence at 26 M Stand Road.

Yadav announced the campaign through social media, describing it not as a mere enrolment exercise, but as an ideological movement and an expansion of the family.

Politically, the move is being seen as a clear indication that Tej Pratap is determined to carve out his own independent identity.

For Tejashwi Yadav, this development signals a major setback.

The RJD’s traditional vote base has long been shaped by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s social engineering and political legacy, an area where Tej Pratap could certainly create ripples.

The 2025 Assembly elections had already exposed the widening rift in the Yadav family, with the two brothers fielding rival candidates and campaigning against each other.

Tej Pratap’s repeated assertion that he would rather die than return to the RJD suggests that the break is now permanent.

Despite electoral setbacks, Yadav continues to remain politically relevant, thanks to a devoted fan following, strong social media presence, and his frequent appearance in headlines.

On several occasions, he has also been seen aligning with the NDA government, and his enhanced security has fuelled speculation about shifting political equations.

If the Janshakti Janata Dal succeeds in expanding its cadre and even slightly denting the Yadav votes, the RJD could face significant losses.

This could raise questions about Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership and further erode the image of unity within the Lalu family.

Tej Pratap Yadav served as a minister in the Nitish Kumar government previously:

As Tej Pratap, who has twice served as a minister in the Nitish Kumar government, now moves toward organizational expansion, the unfolding scenario is poised to add a dramatic new chapter to Bihar’s political landscape, where legacy, ambition, and caste dynamics may once again redrew political equations.
