Patna, October 13, 2025: Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and president of Jantantrik Janata Dal (JJD), announced the party’s first list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 on Monday in Patna.

The announcement came a day after the NDA announced its seat-sharing arrangement for the polls.

With the NDA taking the lead in finalizing its internal distribution, speculation had been growing that the Grand Alliance would soon follow suit.

However, ahead of that, Tej Pratap Yadav’s JJD unveiled its first list of candidates.

Tej Pratap Yadav will contest from Mahua:

Tej Pratap Yadav himself will contest from the Mahua Assembly constituency in Vaishali district, the same seat he had won on the RJD ticket in 2015.

Besides him, Vikas Kumar Kavi will contest from Belsan, Madan Yadav from Shahpur, Dr. Gulshan Yadav from Bakhtiyarpur, Ajit Kushwaha from Bikramganj, Niraj Rai from Jagdishpur, Avinash from Atri, Prem Kumar from Wazirganj, Awadh Kishore Jha from Benipur, Shankar Yadav from Maner, Dinesh Kumar Surya from Dumao, Ashutosh from Govindganj, Meenu Kumari (Lawyer) from Patna Sahib, Sanjay Yadav from Madhepura, Taufiq Rahman from Narkatiyaganj, Dharmendra Krantikari from Barauli, Braj Bihari Bhat from Kuchaikot, Raviraj Kumar from Hisua, Jay Singh Rathi from Mahnar, Pushpa Kumari from Baniapur, and Surabhi Yadav from Mohiuddin Nagar.

Tej Pratap Yadav’s message on social media:

In a post on X, Tej Pratap Yadav reaffirmed his commitment to Bihar’s development, stating, “Our aim is to bring about a complete transformation in Bihar and create a new system. We are preparing to fight a long battle for the overall development of the state.”

He also shared a poster featuring his election symbol, a blackboard, along with a slogan, “Power of the people, rule of the people…Tej Pratap will develop Bihar.”

The poster identifies him as the national president of the JJD and includes the message of social justice, social rights, and complete change.

The announcement marks Tej Pratap Yadav’s independent political move ahead of the high-stakes assembly polls, signaling his attempt to carve out a separate identity from the RJD led by his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav.
