Patna, January 13, 2026: Janshakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav on Tuesday evening met his parents, party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, along with his younger brother and Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, and formally invited them to the Dahi-Chura feast being organized at his Patna residence on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
During the meeting, Tej Pratap first touched the feet of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, seeking their blessings.
The interaction assumed political significance as it marked the first public display of warmth between Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav in recent months, after a prolonged period during which Tej Pratap had been living separately and maintaining a visible distance from his younger brother on public platforms.
Tej Pratap Yadav formally invited Tejashwi Yadav:
The primary purpose of the meeting was the grand Dahi-Chura program scheduled for January 14.
Tej Pratap Tadav formally handed over an invitation letter to Tejashwi Yadav for what he described as a “historic Dahi-Chura feast.” Political observers believe the gesture was aimed at conveying a message of brotherhood and family unity amid ongoing political activity.
Amid the political exchanges, a touching personal moment was witnessed when Tej Pratap Yadav held Tejashwi’s daughter and his niece, Katyayani, in his arms.
Tej Pratap Yadav later described the moment as a “wonderful experience” and shared photographs that reflected warmth and affection, reinforcing the perception that family bonds remain intact despite political differences.
Political significance:
Political analysts see Tej Pratap’s visit to Tejashwi’s residence as a significant development, especially in light of recent speculation about a “cold war” between the brothers within both the family and the party. The meeting on the eve of Makar Sankranti has blunted opposition claims of a deep rift within the Lalu family.
With the invitation now extended, attention has shifted to Wednesday’s Dahi-Chura feast, which is expected to be more than just a traditional celebration. The event is being viewed as a symbolic display of the unity and political strength of the Lalu family.
Party workers have expressed renewed enthusiasm, and observers will closely watch the participation of Tejashwi Yadav and other family members to see whether the occasion puts a final seal on the apparent family reconciliation.
