Shyam Rajak joined JD (U) for the second time in his political career.
Patna, September 1: Shyam Rajak, the prominent Dalit leader of Bihar joined Janata Dal (United) on Sunday. This was the second time he joined JD (U) in his political career.
Shyam Rajak resigned from RJD on August 22, where he held the post of National General Secretary. He was welcomed by Sanjay Kumar Jha, the working president of JD (U) in the party’s head office in Patna.
“I have started the preparation for the assembly election 2025 and expect to contest the Phulwarisharif seat of Patna district,” Rajak said.
Shyam Rajak began his political journey with RJD and later switched to JD (U). He re-joined RJD just before the assembly election 2020, hoping to contest from the Phulwarisharif seat. However, this seat was allocated to CPI-ML as part of the seat-sharing formula within the Grand Alliance and he was not given the ticket.
Disappointed by the seat allocation and not receiving the opportunity to contest from Phulwarisharif, Shyam Rajak resigned from RJD on August 22. He now re-joined JD (U) once again, making another shift in his political career.

“Leaders like Late PM VP Singh, CM Nitish Kumar, and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav are aware of my hard work. Last time, I left RJD only when my trust was broken by the party leaders. This time, there was a period of conspiracies and false assurances, which led me to resign from the party,” Rajak said.
“I express my gratitude toward Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for giving me another opportunity to work with JD (U). I am committed to putting all my efforts into the upcoming assembly elections to support JD (U),” he said.
