Patna, August 2, 2025: On a one-day visit to Bihar, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reached Patna on Saturday to participate in Kisan Utsav Diwas organized at Bapu Auditorium to mark the release of the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
During the program, Shivraj Singh Chouhan personally engaged with farmers, stepping off the stage to hear their grievances directly.
Several farmers raised concerns about being forcibly given nano urea bottles along with fertilizers, sparking a sharp reaction from the Union Minister.
“No one can force anything on the farmers. Strict action will be taken against anyone who provides anything else in the name of fertilizer,” said Chouhan, instructing officials to investigate the complaints and crack down on the black marketing of fertilizers.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remotely transferred Rs 2,000 each to the accounts of 74 lakh farmers in Bihar as part of the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme, benefiting 9.7 crore farmers nationwide.

Chouhan said, “We are putting money directly into Farmers’ accounts. The Central Government will also purchase pulses at MSP from Bihar and bear the freight cost for vegetable sales to Delhi.”
Shivraj Sing Chouhan also announced the launch of the upcoming Dhan Dhanya Yojana to further boost farmer welfare.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized growth in the agricultural sector:
Highlighting the Modi government’s achievements, Chouhan noted that Rs 3 lakh crore has been transferred to farmers under PM-Kisan since its launch in 2019.
Rs 1.83 lakh crore has been disbursed under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana since 2016.
Farmers have received subsidies worth Rs 25 lakh crore through Kisan Credit cards and institutional support.

The government is providing Rs 2 lakh Crore fertilizer subsidies this year alone.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan also reiterated the Modi government’s target of creating three crore Lakhpati agricultural research to the grassroots.
Call for Swadeshi and Rakhi appeal:
In a spirited message to farmers, especially women, Shivraj Singh Chouhan promoted ‘Swadeshi’ (Indigenous products), urging them to support local economies and boycott foreign goods.
“This Raksha Bandhan, tie rakhis made in your village and country. Use more locally produced items to make India stronger,” he urged, administering an oath to the farmers and women present.

Chouhan emphasized: “Our farmers understand the need of the nation. We will not bow to anyone. Atamanirbhar Bharat begins in our fields.”
In a veiled swipe at opposition parties, Shivraj Singh Chouhan also commented, “During the Congress and RJD rule, no one cared about farmers. Today, under PM Modi’s leadership, agriculture is being prioritized like never before.”
