Shivraj Singh Chouhan lauds Bihar’s rural development and announced 15 Lakh new homes for the poor.

Patna, April 12, 2025: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan commended the Bihar government’s implementation of rural development schemes during his visit to Patna on Saturday.
While reviewing the progress at the Patna Secretariat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the ongoing development efforts.
Shivraj Chouhan announced that 15 lakh pucca houses will be constructed in the next 7-8 months under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY), benefiting families currently living in Kutcha houses.
“So far this year, 5.2 lakh houses have been provided, and 7.9 lakh were distributed last year. A total of Rs. 8,000 crore will be spent on new constructions,” Chouhan said.

Highlighting the upcoming Panchayat Raj Day on April 24, Chouhan confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Madhubani to address a large gathering and participate in a national Panchayati Raj representatives’ conference.

“A developed India is only possible with a developed Bihar. Both state and central governments are working in harmony to achieve this vision,” he emphasized.

Chouhan described the rural development efforts as” ideal and well-executed, “and reiterated the Centre’s commitment to empowering rural communities across Bihar.
Chouhan Highlighted the success of the ‘Lakhpati Dadi’ initiative, stating that 3 lakh women have already benefited and the target of 20 lakh by year-end appears achievable.

Chouhan reviewed the preparations for PM Modi’s Madhubani rally at the BJP office and also held a discussion at the Patna Secretariat regarding Rural Development schemes.
