Sanjay Saraogi was appointed the new Bihar BJP state president in a major organizational reshuffle.

Patna, December 15, 2025: In a major organizational reshuffle, the Bhartiya Janata Party  (BJP) on Monday appointed Sanjay Saraogi, MLA from Darbhanga Sadar, as the new state president of the Bihar BJP.

He replaces Dilip Jaiswal, who is currently serving as the Industry Minister in the Bihar government.

The appointment was confirmed through an official organizational letter issued by the BJP National General Secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh.

According to the letter, BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Sanjay Saraogi as the Biohar BJP State President, with the decision taking effect immediately.

This development comes amid a series of significant decisions by the BJP’s top leadership.

Just a day earlier, on December 14, the party surprised political observers by appointing Nitin Nabin, the Bakipur MLA and Bihar cabinet minister, as the National Working President of the BJP.

The appointment of Sanjay Saraogi is being seen as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s organizational structure in Bihar ahead of future political challenges.

The elevation of Sanjay Saraogi has sparked celebration among BJP workers, particularly in Danbhanga, Patna, and Mithila regions, where he is considered a well-established and influential leader.

Party workers and supporters have been pouring in congratulatory messages following the announcement.

Sanjay Saraogi is a six-time MLA from Darbhanga Sadar:

A six-time MLA from the Darbhanga Sadar Assembly constituency, Sanjay Saraogi is regarded as one of the BJP’s most prominent faces in the Mithila region.

He has previously served as a minister in the Nitish Kumar government and is known for his strong grassroots connection and clean image.

Although he did not receive a ministerial berth in the current government, the party has now entrusted him with one of its most important organizational responsibilities.

Born on August 28, 1969, Sanjay Saraogi is a resident of the Gandhi Chowk area of Darbhanga City.

He belongs to the Vaishya community and is considered to have a strong hold among the business class. His father’s name is Permeswar Saraogi.

Academically, Saraogi holds degrees in M.Com and MBA.

He began his political journey during his student days through the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and formally joined the BJP in 1995.

He won his first Assembly election from Darbhanga Sadar in 2005 and has since been re-elected consecutively in November 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025.

He has also served as a ward councilor in the Darbhanga Municipal Corporation.

In 2018, Sanjay Saraogi was appointed Chairman of the Estimates Committee of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, further underlining his administrative and legislative experience.

With his appointment as the Bihar BJP State President, the party has signaled its intent to strengthen organizational leadership by placing experienced and regional influential leaders at the helm.
