Patna July 26: Sanjay Jha, the JD (U) working president and Rajya Sabha MP said that the Narendra Modi government has approved the construction of AIIMS Darbhanga at Ekmi-Sobhan Bypass.
Sanjay Jha said on central approval: The statement of Sanjay Jha came after the Union Health Ministry wrote a letter dated July 25 to the additional chief secretary of the Bihar Health Department Pratyaya Amrit regarding this project.
As per the letter, the technical team visited the Ekmi-Sobhan Bypass on March 18 and 19 this year submitted its report and said that the proposed site is suitable for the construction. The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry asked the Heath Department of Bihar to transfer the required encumbrance-free land to the ministry and initiate necessary action for the provision of permanent electricity connection of 20 MVA from two alternate sources, 4-lane road connectivity and potable water supply of 1.5 MLD required for the establishment of AIIMS Darbhanga.
Sanjay Jha expressed gratitude: He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the collaborative effort involved in securing approval for AIIMS Darbhanga.
“For this approval, I express my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on my behalf and all residents of Mithillanchal region. We are confident that the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga will now start soon,” Jha said.
Jha said that the state government committed to transfer over 150 acres of land to the center free of cost, along with arranging electricity and water supply and constructing a four-lane road for smooth connectivity, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to ensuring the successful implementation of AIIMS Darbhanga.

Development of North Bihar: “We believe that if #AIIMS is constructed near Shobhan by-pass located on the city border, then #Darbhanga city will get a new expansion. That area will be developed rapidly. This will create employment opportunities in the region,” Jha said.
“The state government is redeveloping the Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Work is underway on a plan to build a 2500-bed hospital for Rs 2742.04 crore. With the construction of both AIIMS Darbhanga and the revamped DMCH, Darbhanga is set to become a significant healthcare hub, benefiting not only North Bihar but also Nepal,” Jha said.
