RJD targeted Nitish Kumar with a controversial “Khalnayak” poster amid the national anthem row.

Patna March 22, 2025: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has intensified its attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar by releasing a provocative poster on Saturday morning, amid the ongoing national anthem controversy.

Details of RJD controversial poster:

The poster features an animated image of Nitish Kumar alongside two MLAs Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul, a BJP MLA from the Bipsi assembly constituency in Madhubani district and Gopal Mandal, a JDU MLA from the Gopalpur assembly constituency in Bhagalpur district.

The slogan on the poster reads: “Nayak Nahi Khalnayak Hu Main” translating to “I am not a hero but a villain.”

The poster also accuses Nitish Kumar of disrespecting women, insulting Mahatma Gandhi and dishonoring the national anthem.

“Ha Maine Kiya Hai Mahilao Ka Apman (Yes, I have insulted women), Gandhiji Ka kiya hai Apman (Gandhi ji has been insulted) and Ab Ho Gaya Rashtra Gaan Ka Apman (Now the national anthem has been insulted).

Another bold line on the poster reads:

“Ji Ha Main Hu Khalnayak” (Yes, I am the villain).

The poster was put up by Sanju Kohli, a former district councilor from Makhdumpur, Jehanabad and an RJD leader.

Context of the National Anthem controversy:

The controversy erupted after Nitish Kumar allegedly displayed unusual behavior during the national anthem at the 2025 Sepak Takraw World Cup inauguration at Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna on Thursday.

During the national anthem, CM Nitish Kumar was seen talking to his Principal Secretary, Deepak Kumar while the anthem played. Gesturing and tapping Deepak Kumar, had made him visibly uncomfortable.

Nitish Kumar was also seen laughing and folding hands to greet someone midway through the national anthem.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, leading to widespread criticism from opposition parties.

RJD announced statewide protests against Nitish Kumar on Saturday.

They are demanding a public apology from the CM in the state assembly. If Nitish Kumar refuses to apologize, opposition leaders plan to march to Raj Bhavan on Sunday.

The controversy has further escalated political tensions in Bihar, with RJD accusing Nitish Kumar of repeatedly disrespecting public sentiment.
