Patna, May 1, 2024: Prominent Janata Dal (United) leader Ajit Kumar Singh, the younger son of RJD state president Jagadanand Singh, resigned from the primary membership of the party on Tuesday evening.

RJD state president’s son resigned from JD-U:

Ajit Kumar Singh, who had joined the JD-U in April 2022 after quitting the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), was reportedly unhappy with the party’s top leadership for not assigning him any significant role in the organization. In this resignation letter addressed to JD-U state president, Umesh Kushwaha, he had taken two major decisions without consulting grassroots workers. He claimed this had created confusion among the cadre and weakened the organization.

“When party workers start taking their stand on the ground, the top leadership takes the opposite decision,” Singh wrote. “We thought the Chief Minister would take some decisions for the state, but even after two phases of elections, the NDA alliance has made no announcement for Bihar.”

Ajit Singh criticized the BJP’s stance:

Singh also criticized the BJP’s stance, saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not said anything about Bihar’s special status. BJP leaders are openly talking about changing the Constitution, which is a dangerous turn for democracy, but CM Nitish Kumar has not taken any step to check it.”

Expressing concern over BJP’s policies, he said it had become difficult for him to seek votes for the NDA while holding a position in the party.

Ajit Kumar Singh is the younger brother of RJD’s Buxar candidate Sudhakar Singh, while his youngest brother Puneet Singh is also associated with the RJD.
