Patna, June 4, 2024: Despite its aggressive “400 paar” campaign, the BJP has fallen short of the majority mark of 272 seats on its own in the Lok Sabha Election 2024.

As the results became clear, the RJD launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming the mandate was against him.

RJD demanded that Narendra Modi should resign from the PM post:

RJD spokesperson Chitranjan Gagan said that the people of the country had “clearly rejected” Prime Minister Modi, and therefore, “in keeping with democratic norms,” he should resign immediately.

“This time, the BJP fought the election solely in the name of Narendra Modi, and he has been completely rejected by the people,” Gagan stated.

“The BJP had no real issues in this election. Its leaders were only asking for votes in Modi’s name. The BJP never sought votes in the name of the NDA.

He further alleged that the NDA had been “inactive and irrelevant” during the last decade.

“In the last ten years, neither a forum of the NDA was created nor was a single meeting held. What the BJP calls the NDA today is only an arrangement of seat-sharing with regional parties. That is why their manifestos contradict each other,” he said.

Citing examples, Gagan pointed to conflicting promises on minority reservations.

“While the BJP talked about ending minority reservation in its manifesto, Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP promised to grant reservations to minorities,” he said.

Gagan also compared Narendra Modi’s reduced winning margin in Varanasi.

“In 2010, Modi won Varanasi by nearly five lakh votes. This time, after trailing initially, he managed a margin of only about one and a half lakh votes,” he said.

RJD leader claimed that Narendra Modi lost the trust of the people:

“In contrast, BJP’s Shankar Lalwani won Indore by 10 lakh votes and Shivraj Singh Chouhan won by around 8 lakh. These examples show that Modi has lost the trust of the people.” Gagan concluded that PM Modi remaining in Office “goes against moral and democratic values.”
