Patna, August 28: Rajvinder Singh Bhatti is set to go on central deputation, and this move was formally approved by the Union Home Ministry on Wednesday.

Rajvindar Singh Bhatti will be taking up a significant role at the centre as he is appointed the Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

For the past few days, there have been speculations regarding Bhatti’s transfer to a central position. The Bihar government had already given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for his central deputation. Rajvinder Singh Bhatti has been officially assuming the position of DG of CISF.

Rajvinder Singh Bhatti, a 1990 batch IPS officer, became the DGP of Bihar in December 2022, with a tenure expected to last until September 30, 2025.

However, his tenure is being cut short as he prepares to move to his new role. Bhatti, known for his strict action, has been noted for his efforts to combat crime in Bihar.

He previously served as the SP of Siwan in September 2005, where he gained recognition for arresting Mohammad Shahabuddin during the election.

Upon taking charge as DGP in Bihar, Bhatti was firm with his officers, famously stating, “If you do not chase the criminals, the criminals will chase you.”

With Rajvinder Singh Bhatti’s departure, the search for a new DGPO has begun. Vinay Kumar, the DG of Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation is leading for the position. A 1991 batch IPS officer is known for his honesty in Bihar.

Shobha Ahotkar, the 1990 batch IPS officer is another potential candidate for the post. She is currently serving as DG of the Home Guard and Fire Brigade.
