Patna, August 23, 2025: On the seventh day of the Voter Rights Yatra, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, along with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav reached Kursela in Katihar district on Saturday.
The yatra will cover nearly 90 km in the district, with major public meetings scheduled at the Kadwa block.
Rahul Gandhi in Makhana fields:
In a surprise move, Rahul Gandhi stopped at Makhana fields near Simaria, where he interacted directly with farmers.
He inquired about the cultivation process, market demand, and challenges faced by producers.

Farmers explained the disparity between local prices and international markets, saying that while Makhana sells for Rs. 700/kg in Bihar, its value soars to lakhs in foreign markets like the US.
Bihar Congress chief Rajesh Ram said, “Farmers here are trapped between middlemen and poor government management. The Centre has done nothing to ensure fair prices. Makhana producers remain the most neglected.”
Political barbs over FIRs:
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, addressing supporters, hit back at the FIRs registered against him in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh over alleged derogatory remarks against PM Modi.
“Who is afraid of FIR? Even saying ‘jumla’ has become a crime. They are scared of the truth. We are not afraid of any FIR,” Tejashwi declared.

Congress leaders also rallied behind him. Kadwa MLA Shakeel Ahmed Khan said, “Even if a thousand FIRs are filed, it won’t matter. This yatra is about freeing democracy from the BJP’s ideas. We will not let votes be stolen.”
Poet-politician Imran Pratapgarhi added, “Lies change clothes five times a day, but truth remains in a T-shirt. Rahul Gandhi has brought the fight to the people’s court, and this yatra has turned into a revolution.”
The Voter Rights Yatra, which has already drawn massive crowds across Bihar, is being projected by Congress and RJD as a people’s movement.

With Rahul Gandhi engaging farmers on the ground and Tejashwi Yadav sharpening attacks on the ruling NDA, the campaign is being seen as a joint opposition show of strength against the NDA.
