Rabri Devi criticized Nitish Kumar for adopting a dual approach on the Waqf Bill.

Patna November 28, 2024: Rabri Devi, the former Chief Minister of Bihar, has criticized the current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over his unclear stance on the Waqf Board Amendment Bill.

“Nitish Kumar is adopting a dual approach to the issue. His silence indicates a lack of transparency and decisiveness. Nitish Kumar’s failure to explicitly support or oppose the bill is confusing, as his leaders are backing the bill while he remains noncommittal,’ Rabri Devi said.

She expressed disappointment over Kumar’s absence from a meeting organized by minority groups in Patna to discuss the bill, asserting that his presence was crucial to addressing their concerns.

‘If Nitish Kumar is silent, it will be considered that he is against this bill, but his leaders are supporting the bill. It means that Nitish Kumar has been taking a stance on both sides,” she remarked.

Rabri Devi also criticized the centre over Wakf Bill:

Rabri Devi also criticized the central government, alleging that the Waqf Board Amendment Bill is a deliberate attempt to target minority communities, particularly Muslims. She accused the government of using the legislation to confiscate properties.

Highlighting her party’s stance, she stated, we openly oppose this bill. Muslims are being harassed somewhere through this bill, and we will not let it happen. “Her comments reflect broader political concerns regarding the implications of the bill for minority rights and community welfare.

Rabri Devi sharply reacted over the inaction of rebellious MLAs:

On the issue of rebel MLAs, both from her Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress, Rabri Devi addressed the lingering frustration within her party.

She emphasized that Tejashwi Yadav, leader of the Opposition in Bihar, is actively managing the situation.

The matter dates back to when the alliance between Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and the RJD broke, and Nitish Kumar formed a new government with the NDA. During the subsequent confidence motion in the Bihar assembly, three RJD MLAs defied the party line and supported Nitish Kumar.

The RJD had filed a petition with the Assembly Speaker to revoke the membership of these rebel MLAs, but no decision has been taken even after ten months.

This delay has sparked anger within the RJD, with Tejashwi Yadav raising the issue in the Bihar Assembly, accusing the rebels of occupying ministerial seats while no action is being enforced against them.

Rabri Devi backed Tejashwi’s demand for action, stating that the Speaker’s inaction is unacceptable and that accountability is necessary. She underscored the importance of addressing the issue to maintain party discipline and credibility.

Rabri Devi congratulated Hemant Soren for forming the government in Jharkhand:

Rabri Devi, while expressing happiness over Hemant Soren’s government formation in Jharkhand, extended her congratulations to the Chief Minister and praised the increased presence of her party’s MLAs in the Jharkhand elections.

“The success in Jharkhand is the collective efforts of allied parties of INDIA bloc and the support of the public, highlighting the unity collaboration among opposition forces in the state,” Rabri Devi said.
