Prashant Kishor changed 2 candidates of Bihar by-polls.

Patna October 23, 2024: The Jan Suraj Party, led by Prashant Kishor has made changes to its candidates for the upcoming Bihar by-polls following some unexpected challenges.

On Wednesday, the party replaced its candidates for the Tarari and Belaganj assembly seats.

Prashant Kishor fielded Kiran Singh and Mohammad Amjad:

In Tarari, the initial candidate Lt General Shri Krishna Singh, was deemed ineligible to contest the election because his name was not on the voter list in Bihar.

In response, the party has now fielded Kiran Singh, a social worker known for her contributions to education. She will be contesting the seat in place of Shri Krishna Singh.

For Belaganj, the initial candidate was Professor Khilafat Hussain, who opted not to run, citing personal reasons.

As a result, the party has reinstated Mohammad Amjad as the candidate. Amjad who had contested the 2005 and 2010 assembly elections, had initially put aside. However, the party has reconsidered him after Hussain stepped back.

The announcement of the new candidates was made by the party’s acting president Dr Manoj Bharti in the presence of Prashant Kishor in Bihar’s Arrah city on Wednesday.

The last-minute adjustment highlights the challenges and complexities involved in election management, even within emerging political parties like Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party.

Prashant Kishor acknowledged the challenges during the elections:

“These changes might invite criticism, with some seeing them as a setback for the Jan Suraj Party but I want to say that the party is committed to transparency and honesty. I want to reassure supporters that while mistakes may happen, the party’s efforts would remain sincere and principled,” Kishor said.

“Lt General Singh who led the Indian Army in Siachen was disqualified from contesting in Tarari because his name was listed on the voter roll in Noida Uttar Pradesh. Despite efforts to transfer his registration to Tarari, the request was rejected due to electoral rules,” Kishor said.

“Kiran Singh is a dedicated social worker in the Tarari region while Amjad had contested elections in the past. He underwent a financial burden due to the election campaign. However, after the public and party pressure, Amzad is ready for the electoral battle,” Prashant Kishor said.

Overall, Prashant Kishor’s message was one of resilience in moving forward in a positive direction despite the setbacks the party faced during these candidate changes.
