Patna, October 30, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched a sharp counterattack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing them of “spreading lies” and “insulting Bihar’s faith” by mocking the Chhath festival.
Addressing a massive rally in Muzaffarpur, PM Narendra Modi said the two “princes of corruption” were attempting to mislead the people of Bihar with hollow promises.
“In the electoral battle of Bihar, a pair of young men—one the prince of India’s most corrupt family, and the other the prince of Bihar’s most corrupt family—have opened a shop of false promises,” PM Modi said, referring to Rahul and Tejashwi.
“Both are out on bail in multi-billion-dollar scams. Yesterday, they hurled abuses at me. Those born into privilege cannot tolerate that a person from a poor, backward family—a tea seller—has reached this position,” he said.
PM Narendra Modi accused Congress and RJD of insulting Chhathi Maiya:
PM Narendra Modi accused the Congress and RJD leaders of insulting “Congress and RJD leaders of insulting Chhathi Maiya,” a deeply revered deity in Bihar. “While I was working to make the world chant praises of Chhathi Maiya, these people called Chhath a drama. Can Bihar and its mothers who fast without water tolerate this insult? The people of Bihar will never forgive such shameless remarks,” he said.

He added that the NDA government is working to get Chhath Mahaparv recognized by UNESCO as a global symbol of humanity and equality. “Chhath is the pride of Bihar and of India. It represents devotion, harmony, and our shared heritage,” Modi said.
Taking a dig at the RJD and Congress, the Prime Minister said these parties could never develop Bihar.
“They ruled Bihar for years and only gave betrayal. The RJD and Congress are identified by five things: guns, cruelty, bitterness, misgovernance, and corruption. Where they exist, the rule of law disappears,” he said.
He contrasted their record with NDA’s governance, saying that Bihar had transformed under the BJP-JDU alliance.
“Today, railway engines are made in Bihar, makhana is exported globally, and big dairy plants are being established. Those who kept Bihar in the lantern age cannot bring electricity or industry,” he said.
NDA’s focus on women’s empowerment:
Highlighting the NDA’s focus on women’s empowerment, Modi said, “We gave houses in women’s names, tap water, free gas, and food grains. The Nitish government has deposited Rs 10,000 into the accounts of 1.3 crore women for self-employment. The women of Bihar are now becoming entrepreneurs—and we will continue to support them.”
PM Narendra Modi concluded by appealing to voters to reject the “dynastic and corrupt” politics of RJD and Congress and to support the NDA for a “developed and self-reliant Bihar.”
