Patna, April 7, 2024: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national vice president Shivanand Tiwari on Sunday sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of failing to address the issues in border regions adjoining China and in Manipur.
Tiwari’s remarks came soon after the Prime Minister addressed a rally in Bihar’s Nawada district, highlighting the removal of Article 370, the abolition of triple talaq, and the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
“In every rally, the PM Narendra Modi says the work done in the last 10 years is only a trailer. But if we analyze it, Jammu and Kashmir was already an integral part of India before the abrogation of Article 370 and remains so today. Still, the people of Leh, Ladakh and Kargil are dissatisfied. They are protesting and going on hunger strikes. Similar unrest prevails in Manipur,” Tiwari said.
Shivanand Tiwari alleged that the Narendra Modi government is failing to address issues:
He accused the Modi government of “sleeping” on sensitive border issues instead of engaging in dialogue with the affected people.
“Before 2014, the corporate world and media built a larger-than-life image of Narendra Modi and portrayed him as a strong leader, while Dr. Manmohan Singh was called weak. But Modi’s promises—from two crore jobs a year to doubling farmers’ income, building houses for the poor, and bringing back black money—remain unfulfilled,” he said.
Narendra Modi’s policies only benefit rich people:
Tiwari alleged that Narendra Modi’s policies have benefited only the rich.
“The number of billionaires is rising, while poverty and unemployment are increasing. Mukesh Ambani’s son’s wedding shows how wealth is concentrated in a few hands. Instead of taxing them, the government is giving them relaxations,” he said.
He also claimed that 94% of India’s population depends on agriculture and the unorganized sector, which lack fair wages, capital, and technology.
“Development means empowering farmers and workers. Their purchasing power is almost zero, which is why the market is sluggish. Until their earnings rise, India cannot truly develop,” Tiwari added.
Criticizing Modi’s claims about India becoming the fifth-largest economy, Tiwari said, “The real measure of development is per capita income. India ranks 142nd out of 197 countries, below even a small African nation, Angola. Education and health have gone beyond the reach of common people under this government.”
He concluded, “PM Modi is showing a new bioscope to the people with the slogan of 400 seats, but he will not succeed this time.”
