Patna, April 10, 2024: Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh on Wednesday announced his decision to contest the Lok Sabha election from the Karakat constituency in Bihar.
Pawan Singh announced his candidature through a social media post:
“I promised my mother that I will contest this Lok Sabha election. I have decided to contest from Karakat, Bihar. Jai Mata Di!” Pawan Singh said in a social media post.
With his entry, the Karakat Lok Sabha seat is set to witness a triangular contest. The NDA has fielded Upendra Kushwaha, national president of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha, while the CPI (ML) has nominated Rajaram Singh as the Grand Alliance candidate. Bith Kushwaha and Rajaram Singh belong to the Kushwaha community, whereas Pawan Singh comes from an upper caste background.
BJP has earlier given him a ticket from Asansol:
Earlier, the BJP had offered Bhojpuri singer a ticket from Asansol in West Bengal, but he declined. The party later nominated SS Ahluwalia from the seat for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
With Pawan Singh’s entry into the fray, the political equation in Karakat has turned interesting, drawing attention across Bihar’s political circles.
