Patna, December 19, 2025: Patna District Magistrate Tyagarajan SM has issued an official order revising the operating hours of all government and private schools across the districts.
The decision has been taken in view of the severe cold wave and sharply falling temperatures in Patna. The district administration has imposed strict measures to safeguard schoolchildren.
The schools will operate between 10.00 am to 3.30 pm:
As per the order, no academic activities will be allowed before 10.00 am or after 3.30 pm in any school in Patna district.
The directive also applied to Anganwadi centres and pre-schools.
The order will remain in force from December 20, 2025 to December 25, 2025, and covers all classes from class 1 to higher grades.

However, special classes and examinations conducted for board and pre-board examinations have been exempted from these time restrictions.
The district magistrate invoked his powers under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sahita (BNSS) while issuing the order.
The administration noted that the prevailing cold wave and extremely low temperatures could pose a series risk to the health and safety of children, necessitating immediate preventive action.
Patna DM asked officials to implement the directives:
The DM has directed the District Education Officer, Senior Superintendent of Police and all Sub-Divisional Magistrates to ensure strict implementation of the order.

Educational institutions found violating the directive may face legal action.
The district administration has appealed to school authorities and parents to cooperate in the interest of students’ health and safety.
