Patna, August 8, 2025: The Patna district administration has issued a second reminder to RJD leader and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav regarding discrepancies in two Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers, directing him to submit his reply by August 16.
Patna district administration said one of Tejashwi’s EPIC numbers is fake:
According to the letter issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Tejashwi Yadav had claimed during the press conference on August 2 that his EPIC number was RAB2916120.
However, a search on the Election Commission of India’s official website after Special Intensive Revision—2025 revealed that no such number existed in the draft electoral roll, and his name had been deleted.
An inquiry later found his name listed in the rolls under EPIC number RAB0456228 at serial number 416, in the Library Building of Bihar Animal Science University, Polling Station Number 204.

This same EPIC number was mentioned in his nomination affidavits for the 2015 and 2020 Assembly Elections, as well as in the Calculation he submitted through the BLO during the ongoing revision.
The Patna administration noted that RAB2916120—the number he displayed in the press conference—was never issued by the Election Commission of India, suggesting it was fake.
The letter of the Patna district administration warned that creating and using forged government documents is an offence and asked Yadav to deposit the seemingly fake EPIC card with the Electoral Registration Officer by 5 PM on August 16.
The first notice in this case was sent on August 6.
Tejashwi response:
Earlier on Thursday, Tejashwi Yadav responded to this matter.
He said he is ready to respond to the notice.

He questioned the basis of the complaint, asking who issued the two EPIC numbers. The person who issued them is now asking us where they came from. The mistake is someone else’s, but we are being asked to answer.”
