Pakistan beat Canada by 7 wickets in the T20 World Cup.

New Delhi, June 12, 2024: Pakistan kept their T20 World Cup Super 8 hopes alive with a crucial seven-wicket win over Canada at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Tuesday night.

Chasing a modest target of 107, Pakistan reached 109 for 3 in 17.3 overs, riding on an unbeaten 53-run knock by Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan anchored the chase after the early dismissal of Saim Avub for six. He shared a 63-run partnership with skipper Babar Azam, who contributed 33 runs off 33 balls, to put Pakistan in a commanding position.

Earlier, Canada were restricted to 106 for 7 in 20 overs after Pak opted to field first. Aaron Johnson top-scored for Canada with 52 off 44 balls, while Kaleem Sana (13) and Saad Bin Zafar (10) were the only other players to reach double digits.

Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Mohammad Amir:

Pak’s bowling attack was led by Mohammad Amir, who delivered a brilliant spell of 2 for 13 in 4 overs and was named Player of the Match. Haris Rauf also claimed 2 for 26, and Shaheen Afridi picked up 1 for 21.

Among Canadian bowlers, Dillon Heyliger took 2 wickets for 18 runs, while Jeremy Gordon claimed 1 for 17.

Pakistan beats Canada:

With this win, Pakistan has registered its first victory of the tournament, keeping alive its chances of progressing to the Super 8 stage.
