Patna, July 21, 2025: On the first day of the Bihar Legislative Assembly monsoon session, the opposition created a ruckus inside and outside the House over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list being conducted ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

Mahagathbandhan’s strategy to corner the government over Special Intensive Revision:

Following the adjournment of the House proceedings, the Mahanagthbandhan Legislative Party held an important meeting to chalk out its strategy to corner the government over the next four days.

Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav said, “We have demanded from the Speaker that the Special Intensive Revision issue be discussed in the Assembly.”

“We will fight this battle to protect democracy and its existence. If the government and Speaker do not agree to a discussion, they will not be able to answer the people in the coming time,” Yadav said.

Tejashwi added that the opposition would raise the Special Intensive Revision strongly in Parliament and Bihar.

“On Tuesday, all Grand Alliance MLAs will reach the Assembly wearing black clothes to register their protest over this issue,” Tejashwi said.

Ruckus in the house:

As the house proceedings began, opposition MLAs, wearing black bands, started shouting slogans demanding discussion on the Special Intensive Revision and the law and order situation.

Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav expressed displeasure over the continuous disruption, asking the MLAs to maintain order.

He reprimanded RJD MLA Bhai Virendra and CPI (ML) MLA Satyadev Ram amid the chaos, asking them to sit down and let the House function.

The opposition has been alleging that the Special Intensive Revision process is targeting poor and minority voters and has accused the government of using the process to manipulate the electoral rolls before the elections.

The ruling party, meanwhile, is preparing to pass important bills during the session while showcasing its welfare schemes ahead of the polls.
