Patna, June 22, 2025: Union Minister of State Home Affairs Nityanand Rai has lashed out at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, saying the opposition leader is under “tension” over Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to raise the social security pension from Rs. 400 to Rs. 1100.
Responding to Tejashwi’s claim that the government acted under opposition pressure, Rai said:
Tejashwi Yadav is absolutely wrong. Nitish Kumar has no tension—it’s Tejashwi who is in tension because Nitish Kumar has delivered for the people. This is a welfare measure, and the full credit goes to Nitish Kumar.”
Nityanand Rai criticized Tejashwi for underdevelopment of Raghopur:
Rai, a BJP leader from Vaishali, also criticized Tejashwi for neglecting his own constituency, Raghopur, which he said is reeling from floods and broken roads.
“What has Tejashwi done for Raghopur? The roads that exist were made due to Nitish Kumar’s efforts. He failed to even provide basic facilities in his own constituency,” Rai said.
Nityanand Rai claimed the Grand Alliance would lose all seats of Vaishali district in the upcoming election.
“The Grand Alliance would lose all assembly seats including Hajipur, Mahua, Mahnar,Rajapakad, Lalganj and Raghopur as the people of these constituencies will reject this alliance because of its poor performance and empty rhetoric.”
Countering the opposition’s frequent criticism that Bihar lacks industries, Rai pointed to the Hajipur industrial area as proof of progress.
“They say there are no industries in Bihar. I invite them to Hajipur. There is an ethanol plant and other infrastructure already established,” Rai said.
The remarks come amid a political slugfest between the NDA and opposition parties over pension schemes, development promises, and governance records ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
