Nitish Kumar thanked PM Modi for doubling the rail track between Ayodhya and Punaura Dham.

Patna October 24, 2024: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the Union Cabinet approved the doubling of the railway track between Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district (the birthplace of Goddess Sita) and Ayodhya ( the birthplace of Lord Ram) on Thursday.

The 256 km railway line project was approved on Thursday with an estimated cost of Rs 4,563 crore.

Nitish Kumar wrote a letter to PM Modi in September this year:

Nitish Kumar had written to the Prime Minister on September 22, 2024, urging for the project to enhance connectivity between these two significant pilgrimage sites.

In a post on his official X handle, Kumar lauded the central government’s decision, stating, “It would greatly  benefit devotees visiting these sacred places and I thanked PM Modi for his support.”

Nitish Kumar Government is acquiring 50-acre lands:

In addition to the railway development, the Nitish Kumar government had earlier initiated plans to acquire 50 acres of land to enhance tourist facilities and infrastructure around the Pinaura Dham temple.

The land acquisition process began in September 2024, following an inspection of the site by key officials including Tourism Secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh and Sitamarhi District Magistrate Richi Pandey.

This is part of a large effort to develop Punaura Dham as an important stop for devotees, especially those visiting as part of the Ramayana Circuit, which also includes Ayodhya.

The project also includes the construction of a high-quality national highway to further improve connectivity between the two pilgrimage sites.

The Tourism Secretary of Bihar has instructed the District Magistrate of Sitamarhi to allocate 50 acres of land around the Punaura Dham temple to develop better facilities for tourists and pilgrims.

Nitish Kumar wants smooth communication between Sitamarhi and Ayodhya:

Punaura Dham, the birthplace of Goddess Sita (Janaki), is a significant site for devotees, especially those following the Ramayana Circuit, which includes Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram.

The Ramayana Circuit connects key locations associated with the life of Lord Ram, and Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi district holds a special place for devotees visiting Ayodhya. To further improve access, a high-quality national highway is currently being constructed to link Ayodhya with Punaura Dham. This infrastructure upgrade, alongside the planned land development, is expected to enhance the pilgrimage experience by providing better amenities and smoother travel between these two sacred sites.
