Patna, September 5, 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday addressed party workers in Paliganj, Patna district, where he called on them to gear up for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
During the worker dialogue program held in Sikariya village, Nitish Kumar made a big employment promise. Announcing that more than 50 lakh jobs and employment opportunities will be provided before the elections.
The Chief Minister, who also unveiled a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during the event, recalled the difficult conditions in Bihar before the NDA government came to power in November 2005.
The earlier government did not work. Since 2005, we have ensured the rule of law and rapid development across sectors,” he said.
Employment and Welfare schemes highlighted by Nitish Kumar:
Nitish Kumar emphasized that his government had delivered on earlier commitments.
In 2020, the government had promised 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities. To date, he claimed 10 lakh jobs and 39 lakh employment opportunities have been provided.
Before the assembly polls, the figure will cross 50 lakh, and in the next five years, the state targets one crore jobs/employment.
Recently, the pension for elderly, disabled, and widowed women was increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100, benefitting 1.12 crore people.
Under the new Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, every woman from each household will receive Rs 10,000 to start employment. Successful entrepreneurs will get additional support of up to Rs 2 lakh. The scheme will roll out this September.
Nitish Kumar highlighted that almost all domestic consumers now enjoy free electricity; while solar panels will be installed I interested households.
Development and budget growth:
Nitish Kumar underlined the growth of Bihar’s budget since the NDA came to power.
From 28,000 crore in 2005-06, it has now increased to over Rs 3,16 lakh crore.
He credited the Central Government for special financial assistance in roads, industry, health, tourism, and flood control.
The July 2024 budget and February 2025 budget announcements included a Makhana Board, a new airport, and support for the Western Kosi Canal.
Nitish Kumar also listed major development works in Patna district, including the establishment of national institutions like IIT-Patna and NIT, the expansion of medical colleges and super specialty hospitals, Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) being redeveloped into a 5,462-bed world-class hospital, IGIMS is being expanded to 3,000 beds, and NMCH to 2,500 beds.
Nitish Kumar further expressed pride in Bihar hosting the Khelo India Youth Games for the first time, calling it recognition of Bihar’s growing importance at the national level.
