Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for Bihar Gaurav Udyan in Patna.

Patna, August 6, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad Bihar Gaurav Udyan, a thematic park to be developed on the banks of the Ganga River near Bans Ghat in Patna.

This project will be built on a 10-acre land parcel and designed with the concept of a Waste-to-Wonder park. The cost of the project is Rs 14.98 crore.

Nitish Kumar paid tribute to Dr. Rajendra Prasad:

Paying floral tribute to the statue of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India’s first President, Nitish Kumar said the project is aimed at beautifying the area while also promoting sustainable and creative urban development.

With this park, the view along the Ganga will become truly picturesque. Structures made from junk materials will offer a unique and thrilling experience for visitors,” he said.

The will be situated between Dr Rajendra Prasad’s Samadhi Sthal and JP Ganga Path (Marine Drive), a location with high footfall and daily commuter traffic.

Nitish Kumar also emphasized the park’s significance in connecting people with the legacy of great leaders.

During the occasion, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, Urban Development Minister Jivesh Mishra, former Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and other dignitaries were present.

Park will be a landmark:

A day prior to the foundation ceremony, Nitish Kumar had inspected the site and reviewed a video presentation detailing the upcoming project.

He instructed officials to ensure that the park not only adds to the city’s aesthetics but also reflects Bihar’s cultural pride and environmental consciousness.

In addition, Nitish Kumar directed the development of the Samadhi Sthal of Loknayak Jay Prakash Narayan, which is located near Dr. Rajendra Prasad’s memorial at Bans Ghat.

He said the area, rich with historical and emotional significance, must be developed holistically for the public to connect with Bihar’s freedom movement and democratic legacy.
