Nitish Kumar inaugurates Rs 1,198.86 crore projects in West Champaran, highlights Bihar’s 20-year transformation.

Patna, September 23, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation of 357 development projects worth Rs 1,198.86 crore at the Lavkush Eco-Tourism Park site in Valmikinagar.

The projects include 237 completed works worth Rs 197.36 crore, inaugurated, and 114 new projects worth Rs 586.67 crore for which foundation stones were laid.

Six special projects linked to announcements made during the Pragati Yatra, costing Rs 414.83 crore.

Some of the key projects, including the reconstruction of Maharaja Stadium in Bettiah at the cost of Rs 53 crore, Rs 12.45 crore sanctioned for the construction of Degree college, 77. 70 crore allocated for the Don Canal Road project, Rs 145 crore allocated for Amvaman Power Grid, Rs 73.16 crore allocated for Bharwat Sena Pathrighat Road, and other schemes.

Nitish Kumar also inspected the proposed Lavkush Eco Tourism Park and later interacted with Jeevika Didis, pensioners, and beneficiaries of government schemes at the Valmiki Auditorium complex.

Nitish Kumar became emotional during his speech:

Returning to Bettiah, the Chief Minister delivered a nearly 45-minute address, recalling his government’s two-decade development journey and expressing deep emotional ties to the region.

“You all know how much I love West Champaran. Whenever I begin a tour, I start from here. Earlier, people did not venture out during the day. When our government came to power, we got rid of the bandits. Today, Champaran has changed,” Kumar said.

Nitish Kumar highlighted his government’s achievements:

In the education sector, we have recruited over five lakh teachers, established several medical colleges, given 125 units of free electricity to every household, provided higher social security pensions, and 35% reservation for women in jobs. Bihar police has the highest representation of women among Indian states,” Kumar said.

Nitish Kumar stressed his government’s inclusive development model benefiting both Hindus and Muslims, citing boundary walls of temples and fencing of graveyards.

In a notable political gesture, Nitish Kumar also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, acknowledging the Centre’s contribution to Bihar’s growth and encouraged the audience to applaud the Prime Minister.

The event underscores Nitish Kumar’s continued focus on infrastructure, social welfare and communal harmony ahead of the upcoming electoral battle in Bihar.
