Nitish Kumar launched Rs 10,929.93 crore urban development and connectivity projects in Bihar.

Patna, September 22, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday unveiled a series of urban infrastructure and road connectivity projects worth over 10,929.93 crore, aimed at boosting urban development and easing traffic congestion across the state.

At a ceremony held at Mauryalok Complex in Patna, CM Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for 1,300 projects under Mukhyamantri Samagra Shahari Vikas Yojana (Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme) across 33 districts, with a total cost of Rs 769.63 crore.

He also launched rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads within Patna Municipal Corporation at the cost of Rs 124.44 crore, six mechanized garbage transfer stations for solid waste management at the cost of Rs 69.97 crore, and Patna Smart City facilities within the Mauryalok Complex at the cost of Rs 15 crore.

During the event, Nitish Kumar released a booklet on the urban development scheme, flagging off Swachhata Express vehicles, and presented appointment letters to 22 newly recruited city managers, symbolically handing them to select appointees.

Sanitation workers were also felicitated for their service.

Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone of the JP Ganga Path extension:

In a separate program at Digha, Patna, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of the 35.65-km JP Ganga Path, also known as Digha-Sherpur-Bihta four-lane, at a massive cost of Rs 6,495.79 crore.

Once completed, the project will provide seamless connectivity to Patna-Ara-Buxar National Highway 922 and further Ghazipur-Lucknow Purvanchal Expressway and the Ara-Mohania National Highway 319.

Nitish Kumar emphasized that the extension will reduce traffic congestion on the Danapur-Chhitnawan-Maner route and enhance access to key institutions such as NIT Patna, IIT Patna and Bihta Airport.

Additionally, CM Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for five other road projects spanning 225.475 km with a combined cost of Rs 2,900 crore, promising timely and high-quality execution.

The Chief Minister said that the completion of these major road projects will increase traffic ease not only in Patna district but also in the surrounding districts.
