Patna, September 21, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated the much-awaited Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna, calling it a milestone in promoting scientific curiosity and innovation among the state’s youth.
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Education Minister Sunil Kumar, and building construction minister Jayant Raj were present at the ceremony.
Built as a joint initiative of the Building Construction Department and Department of Science and Technology, the Science City has been dedicated to the memory of former President and eminent scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
Nitish Kumar was impressed with the state-of-the-art technology of Science City:
Nitish Kumar described it as a state-of-the-art centre of science and innovation for not just Bihar, but the entire eastern India.
The science city houses five science-themed galleries, including the scientist gallery, the biological science gallery, the children’s activity gallery, the invention gallery, and the adventure island.

It also features 269 interactive displays, offering students hands-on opportunities to explore scientific concepts.
A 4D theatre and an advanced auditorium will provide immersive learning experiences, while the science tunnel takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the universe and space science.
Living laboratory for students:
Nitish Kumar emphasized that the facility will serve as a living laboratory for students, researchers, and the general public, fostering scientific thinking, research, and innovation.

Educational tours, experiments and exhibitions will be regularly organized to make science engaging and accessible.
“This science city will inspire our future generations and establish Bihar as a hub of science education and innovation,” the Chief Minister said during the launch event.
