Nitish Kumar inaugurated the 3rd TBM of Patna Metro to boost urban mobility.

Patna March 11, 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a review of the Patna Metro rail Project on Tuesday, assessing the progress of construction.

Nitish Kumar pressed the breakthrough button of the third Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) near Patna Station, Buddha Smriti Park, marking a major milestone.

The machine successfully cut through for the underground corridor, observed by CM Nitish Kumar.

Urban Development Department Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh briefed the CM on the corridor 1 & 2 construction progress using a site map.

Nitish Kumar inspected the priority corridor:

He instructed the DMRC officials to expedite the work of the 6:01 KM priority corridor between Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak section crossing Bhoothnath Road, Zeromile and Patliputra bus stand.

The target completion for the priority line is August 15, 2025.

The underground work starts on November 21, 2023, from Gandhi Maidan metro station and TBM has reached Patna station via Akashvani underground metro station.

During his inspection, CM Nitish Kumar also visited the Patna Railway Junction for a detailed briefing on the ongoing metro construction plan.

Patna Metro is set to transform urban transportation with modern infrastructure and enhanced connectivity.

He directed officials to ensure no hindrance in construction work and asked them that Metro should be operational as scheduled for smooth public transport.

The CM emphasized continuous inspection & review to maintain progress.

“We have designed the Patna Metro Rail Project in a structured manner and are closely monitoring its progress. Officials must work efficiently to complete the project on time so that people can have better transportation facilities,” said Nitish Kumar.

During the inspection, the officials welcomed him with green pant to express an eco-friendly gesture.

During the inspection, Urban Development & Housing Minister Jivesh Kumar, Principal Secretary to CM Deepak Kumar, Urban Development Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh, Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, SSP Patna, Avkash Kumar and officials from DMRC & Patna Metro rail Project were present.

With high-level monitoring, the Patna Metro project aims for a smooth and timely launch, transforming urban transit in Bihar.

The Patna Metro aims to reduce traffic congestion and enhance urban mobility in the capital city. The government is pushing for the timely completion of the priority section, ensuring faster connectivity.

With this major push, Patna is moving closer to its first metro rail network, bringing a modern transport system to the city.
