Patna, November 16, 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has convened a crucial cabinet meeting for Monday, November 17, signalling the beginning of formal processes to constitute a new government in Bihar following the Assembly election results.
The Council of Ministers will meet at 11.30 am in the Cabinet Secretariat central hall.
During the meeting, the cabinet is expected to approve a resolution recommending the dissolution of the current Assembly. The meeting will also include a formal expression of gratitude for Nitish Kumar’s leadership during the government’s tenure.
Nitish Kumar will submit his resignation:
Immediately after the cabinet meeting concludes, Nitish Kumar will proceed to Raj Bhavan, where he will submit his resignation to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan.
This step will officially pave the way for the formation of a new government.
Upon returning from Raj Bhavan, Nitish Kumar will chair a meeting of the NDA Legislature Party at his official residence.
In the meeting, the NDA MLAs are expected to formally elect Nitish Kumar as their Legislative Party leader.
Once elected, he will stake a claim to form the next government, likely the same evening.
Swearing-in ceremony on November 20:
Sources indicate that the swearing-in ceremony for the new NDA government, backed by a strong majority, will be held at Gandhi Maidan on November 20, instead of the traditional venue at Raj Bhavan.
Notably, Nitish Kumar has previously taken the oath at Gandhi Maidan twice during earlier terms, and the choice of venue suggests that the NDA may plan a large public event to mark the occasion.
With the election process complete and the NDA preparing for its next term, Monday’s development will mark a significant transition in Bihar’s political landscape.
