Nitish Kumar cabinet approves 83km Ganga path projects from Munger to Bhagalpur to boost connectivity.

Patna, July 15, 2025: In a significant push to boost regional connectivity, the Nitish Kumar cabinet has approved the 83 km Ganga path between Munger and Sabour with a budget of Rs. 9,970 crore.
One such stretch is already operational in Patna from Digha to Didarganj along the Ganga River, and it is popularly known as JP Ganga Path (Marine Drive).
The Nitish Kumar cabinet approved 30 key proposals across departments in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, and the 83km Ganga Path project is one of them.
Apart from that, the Sultanganj-Bhagalpur-Sabour (40.80km) stretch was approved on Hybrid annuity Model (HAM) with Rs. 4,849.83 crore.
Munger (Safiabad)-Bariyarpur-Ghorghat-Sultanganj (42km) stretch on HAM with Rs. 5,119.80 crore.
These bypasses will help decongest urban traffic and provide uninterrupted, safe transportation along the Ganga.

The Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur four-lane bridge, under construction for 10 years, had its estimate revised for the third time to Rs. 3,923 crore with cabinet approval.
Welfare and education measures of the Nitish Kumar government:
Rs. 3.94 lakh approved to run high schools and higher secondary schools under the finance-free education policy, benefiting top-performing students in these schools.
The cabinet approved the plan to provide one crore jobs and employment opportunities in Bihar during 2025-2030.
