Nitish Kumar cabinet approves 41 key proposals: Major boost for journalists, and infrastructure.

Patna, July 29, 2025: In a significant cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar government approved 41 major proposals aimed at strengthening infrastructure, empowering journalists, youth and women, boosting tourism, and ensuring social welfare.

The meeting, seen as both an administrative milestone and a strategic move ahead of upcoming elections, has set the tone for accelerated development in the state.

Nitish Kumar enhanced the journalist pension:

The highlight of the meeting was the formal approval of the revised journalist pension scheme, increasing the amount from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 15,000.

This long-awaited decision is expected to benefit senior journalists across Bihar and is being seen as a direct outreach to the media fraternity.

The Nitish Kumar cabinet approved a Rs. 1,100 crore budget for the establishment of a world-class sports academy in Rajgir, marking a significant investment in Bihar’s sporting infrastructure.

Additionally, six new posts in the Bihar State Youth Commission have been approved, signaling the government’s intent to empower young voices beyond political optics.

Several key infrastructure projects received the green light, including Rs.675 crore for the construction of the Lohia Path Chakra in Patna, Rs. 696.25 crore for a flyover connecting Nagarpalika Chowk to Gandhi Chowk in Chhapra, Rs. 2,368 crore for the approach road linking the four-lane Digha-AIIMS road in Patna and Rs. 675.5 crore for Ram Manohar Lohia Path construction in Patna.

These projects are expected to significantly improve urban mobility and regional connectivity.

Tourism and cultural development:

In a boost to religious tourism, Rs. 120.58 crore was approved for the development of Purauna Dham temple in Sitamarhi.

Besides, Munger’s Sitakund fair has been accorded national fair status, enhancing its cultural significance.

Under the Kanya Udyog Yojana, the Nitish Kumar government is focused on promoting female entrepreneurship, which has been approved, furthering the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment. Additionally, the Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0 scheme received Rs. 115 crore, aimed at improving nutrition among children and mothers.

The cabinet meeting reflects the Nitish Kumar government’s intent to combine policy reform with political strategy ahead of the 2025 elections.
