Patna, March 6, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a crucial meeting with leaders and workers of Janata Dal United (JDU) at his official residence in Patna.

During the meeting, Kumar reassured party leaders that his move to the Rajya Sabha would not affect either the party or the governance of Bihar.

He emphasized that he would continue to remain actively involved in the state’s affairs even while serving in the upper house.

“You will not face any problems. We will remain in Bihar as well. All work will continue. Don’t worry. We are going to the Rajya Sabha, but we will continue to oversee everything,” Kumar told party leaders.

Nitish Kumar clarifies his decision amid political speculation:

Kumar’s decision to enter the Rajya Sabha has triggered political discussions across Bihar, with some party workers expressing dissatisfaction.

However, the Chief Minister clarified that the decision was entirely his own.

Before the meeting, Union Minister and senior JDU leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said that those questioning the decision do not understand Nitish Kumar’s personality.

He has always been known for making independent decisions. No one can force him to make a decision against his will. It will be Nitish Kumar himself who decides who will be the next Chief Minister of Bihar,” Singh said.

Nishant Kumar will enter politics:

Another major development emerged during the meeting as long-standing speculation about the political entry of Nitish Kumar’s son was finally confirmed.

According to party leaders, Nishant Kumar will formally join the JDU on Saturday and will begin working for the party.

JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar said that Nishant Kumar will soon tour different districts across Bihar to strengthen the party’s organization.

Nishant Kumar will join the JDU tomorrow and will soon begin a state-wide tour. Many MLAs had requested his entry into the party during the meeting, and Nitish Kumar accepted it,” Kumar said.

Following the legislative party meeting, JDU MLA Ajit Kumar said that some legislators even suggested that Nishant Kumar could be considered for the Chief Minister’s post in the future.

Meanwhile, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said that Nitish Kumar’s experience would continue to guide the government.

“I have served Bihar for 20 years and will continue to do so. Nitish Kumar will keep guiding the NDA government with his experience,” Choudhary said.

With Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha bid and Nishant Kumar’s political entry, Bihar’s political landscape appears set for a significant shift in the coming days.
