Nitish Kumar and Rabri Devi were involved in a heated debate over law and order in the Bihar Legislative Council.

Patna March 20, 2025: A heated confirmation took place in Bihar on Thursday between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former CM Rabri Devi over law and order issues in the state council.
The opposition leaders especially Rabri Devi raised concerns over deteriorating law and order in Bihar.
RJD MLCs stormed the well of the House, shouting slogans. Even Rabri Devi joined the protest, raising slogans herself.
Nitish Kumar’s sharp attack on Rabri Devi:
Amid the uproar, Nitish Kumar lost his cool and made a personal jibe at Rabri Devi: “What were you? When your husband (Lalu Prasad Yadav) was suspended, you were made the Chief Minister. It was a matter of your house; you were made CM of Bihar.’’

This remark triggered massive protests from the opposition, leading to further chaos in the House. Amid the turmoil,
Chairman Awadhesh Narain Singh admonished the opposition for disrupting the procuring and emphasizing the importance of maintaining decorum within the House He expressed dismay over derogatory remarks and urged members to refrain from
Unparliamentarily language to ensure the council’s effective functioning. At one point, the chairman asked opposition lawmakers to walk out of the house.
Opposition walks out in protest:
Following Nitish Kumar’s comments, RJD MLCs walked out of the session for some time.
The opposition also raised slogans of ‘’Symbolism will not work, ‘’targeting the Speaker. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Chaudhary objected strongly and called for a review of video footage to check if any offensive remarks were made against the Speaker. MLC Adularia Siddiqui later clarified that if anyone misused the word’’ sycophantism, ‘’ regret is expressed. The exchange highlights the rising tensions between JDU and RJD as Bihar’s political battle heats up.
With elections approaching, the law and order debate is expected to be a major campaign issue.
