Patna, September 18, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a closed-door meeting at Hotel Maurya in Patna, adding weight to the political buzz ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

Nitish Kumar welcomed Shah with a shawl as a goodwill gesture. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Sanjay Jha and Vijay Kumar Choudhary were also present during the discussions.

First meeting between Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar since 2024:

The meeting, the first major formal interaction between Nitish Kumar and Amit Shah since Nitish’s return to the NDA in 2024, is expected to have a direct impact on Bihar politics.

Sources indicated that seat-sharing arrangements and the overall campaign strategy topped the agenda.

Reports of friction within the NDA over seat distribution have been circulating.

Allies, including Chirag Paswan’s LJP(Ram Vilas) and Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM, have already begun pressing their demands. LJPRV MP Arun Bharti recently claimed his party expects a “respectable share” of 43-137 seats, while Manjhi has sought 20 seats for his party.

Amit Shah will attend two back-to-back meetings in Rohtas and Begusarai:

Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Bihar. After the Patna meeting, he is scheduled to visit Dehri (Rohtas district) to hold a high-level review with BJP grassroots workers.

The region, comprising Rohtas, Kaimur, Bhojpur and Buxar districts, proved challenging for the BJP in 2020, when it won only two of 20 seats there.

Shah will later head to Begusarai for another round of discussions with local MPs, MLAs, MLCs and district leaders.

With the assembly polls inching closer, today’s meeting is being viewed as a crucial step toward ironing out the NDA’s internal differences and building a united campaign front.
