Nikhil Kumar claimed to contest the Lok Sabha election 2024 from Aurangabad seat.

Patna: Former Kerala governor and veteran Congress leader Nikhil Kumar said that he will contest the Lok Sabha election 2024 from Aurangabad.

“The people of Aurangabad are expecting a Congress candidate to contest the general election 2024 and I am expecting that our party would allow me to contest from this seat. The Congress party had made the mistake 5 years ago and lost this seat to respect the coalition pact,” Nikhil Kumar said.

The statement of Nikhil Kumar came at a time when RJD gave the ticket to Abhay Kushwaha to contest this seat as a Mahagathbandhan candidate in the Lok Sabha poll this year.

“The supporters of the Congress party approached me and asked to contest the election at any cost. Traditionally, Aurangabad is a seat of the Congress party and we have good strength here,” Kumar said.

“RJD has given the ticket to its candidate but he is unaware of the local issues. He does not know the ground reality of Aurangabad. We have been working here for the last 10 years and know everything about Aurangabad,” Kumar said.

The polling in Aurangabad will take place in the first phase on April 19 and only two days left for the nomination. At present, Sushil Kumar of BJP is the sitting MP here.
